Click it Or TicketCanyon Lake, Calif. –The City of Canyon Lake has been awarded $6,680.00 dollars by the California Office of Traffic Safety to conduct seatbelt enforcement in the City of Canyon Lake. This program is called the Click it or Ticket Program. The Canyon Lake Police Department will be aggressively enforcing the state’s occupant protection laws as part of California’s 2009- 2010 Click It or Ticket mobilization, taking place November 2009 through November 2010. The campaign relies on heavy enforcement and public education as a means of protecting lives and reducing serious injuries.

California has a primary seat belt law which requires that every passenger in the car, including the driver, wear a seat belt at all times. If stopped and found to be in violation, law enforcement will issue citations without warning. Tickets for first seat belt violations range from $80 to $91 for adults and $330 to $401 for children under age 16.

The City of Canyon Lake, and the Canyon Lake Police Department, are looking forward to working with the Office of Traffic Safety to promote safe driving in the City of Canyon Lake. Questions or comments about this program should be directed to Sergeant Danny Lingo at the Riverside County Sheriff, Perris Station at 951-210-1000.
