Details:

The Perris Police department has been awarded a $95,000 grant through the Office of Traffic Safety to conduct driving-under-the-influence checkpoints for 2010. This is the third time Perris has applied for and received grants to combat impaired driving within the city of Perris. As in the past, upcoming checkpoints will focus on screening for impaired drivers as well as unlicensed and suspended drivers.

The Traffic Team for the City of Perris is committed to keeping the streets of Perris safe. The Perris Police Department encourages drivers and pedestrians to follow all traffic laws and not drive a vehicle after consuming alcohol. As a result of dedicated traffic enforcement in 2009, alcohol-related fatalities were reduced to two.

California Office of Traffic Safety Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
