Menifee Police Department has been awarded two grants from the Office of Traffic Safety. The grants were awarded to conduct seatbelt enforcement and driving while under the influence / Driver Safety Check points. This is the first time the city of Menifee has been awarded an Office of Traffic Safety Grant.
The Click it or Ticket grant includes enforcement beginning during the holiday season of 2009 through 2010. The city of Menifee was awarded $19,500 for the Click it or Ticket program. The campaign relies on heavy enforcement and public education as a means of protecting the lives of children and reducing serious injuries. The 2010 Driving Under the Influence/Driver Safety Check Point begins in December of 2009 and continues through 2010. The city of Menifee was awarded $105,000 to conduct Driving Under the Influence/Driver Safety Check Points. The checkpoints will focus on impaired drivers as well as unlicensed and suspended drivers.
Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The City of Menifee, and the Menifee Police Department, are looking forward to working with the Office of Traffic Safety to promote safer driving in Menifee.
