On Sunday, October 18, 2009, about 3:40 PM, Temecula Police Officers responded to the parking lot area located on the west side of Macy’s Department Store regarding two male suspects attempting to steal a car. A vigilant citizen saw the two males, armed with a screwdriver, attempting to break into a tan GMC Yukon.
Officers assigned to patrol and the Promenade Mall arrived quickly on scene and located the suspects. One was detained near the Suburban, the second fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit the second suspect was taken into custody.
Officers arrested Robert Duenas (age 26) from the City of Perris and Jeffrey Kibbe (age 19) from the community of Nuevo. Both suspects have an extensive criminal history including vehicle theft and other related theft offenses. Duenas and Kibbe were charged with Conspiracy to Commit Auto Theft and Attempted Auto Theft. Robert Duenas was also charged with violation of probation, in addition to having two felony warrants for his arrest.
Robert Duenas 07/25/83 Jeffrey Kibbe 03/21/90 Duenas and Kibbe were booked into the Southwest Detention Center for the multiple felony charges.
