Details:
On Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 4:55 PM, La Quinta police officers responded to the 78000 block of Saguaro Road to a reported home robbery. A male, wearing a ski mask and holding a gun, entered the residence of a 60-year-old woman and pointed a handgun at her. The victim ran out of the house and was not injured. The suspect jumped the wall to the rear of the residence and ran toward Avenue 50 and Washington Street.
At 5:22 PM, La Quinta Police Officers responded to the 78000 block of Calle Norte to a second reported armed robbery. Larry Gilbert, 23, of La Quinta, reported that he was robbed of his clothing while he was standing at the bus stop on Avenue 50 and Washington Street, by a man matching the description of the first robbery suspect.
Officers assigned to the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team, were able to make an arrest of the single suspect, Larry Gilbert, for the home robbery occurring on Saguaro Rd. The investigation revealed that after Gilbert committed the home robbery, he made a false police report of the alleged robbery at the bus stop to throw officers off of his trail.
Larry Gilbert was arrested for robbery and filing a false police report. Gilbert was booked into the Indio Jail.
Anyone with additional information concerning this incident or other crimes in La Quinta is encouraged to contact the La Quinta Police Department at (760) 777-7376 or Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-STOP.
