Details:

On October 9, 2009, at 1:00 AM, Temecula police officers were dispatched to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, in reference to a stabbing victim, who had walked into the hospital. The victim, a 20-year-old male from the city of Temecula, sustained a single stab wound to the back that was non-life-threatening.

Temecula police officers responded to the hospital and learned that the victim had been involved in an altercation at a park. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Zakkery Durham of Temecula, brandished a knife and chased the victim about a hundred yards through the park into the 43200 block of Corte Cabrera, where he stabbed the victim once in the back. Durham fled the scene on foot.

Temecula Police Department investigators were notified and assumed the investigation. Through their investigative efforts, they made contact with Durham and he voluntarily surrendered. Durham was subsequently booked at the Southwest Detention Center on assault with a deadly weapon charge.
