On Friday, October 9th, approximately 10:30 am, officers from the La Quinta Police Department responded to the intersection of Highway 111 and Adams Street reference a suspicious object in the intersection. Upon officers’ arrival, they observed a piece of metal pipe with end caps in the roadway. Due to the object’s suspicious appearance, officers shut down the intersection and contacted the Riverside County Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team (HDT.) HDT responded and rendered the object safe. HDT advised the object did not appear to contain any dangerous material. The road was reopened a short time later.
