On October 4, 2009, approximately 3:30 am, Verizon advised they had resolved issues with 911 phone service for the western portion of Riverside County. Verizon stated the lines were tested and operational.
Details:
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Communications Center experienced issues with the 911 calls for service in the western portion of the County. The service areas in question were primarily areas covered by Verizon, with the exception of the Jurupa Valley Station area which is serviced by AT&T.
Residents of these affected areas were notified (via the media outlets) that if the 911 call of service does not go through, to please hang up and re-dial.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Communications Center has been notified by Verizon that they are working on a solution.
