On Saturday, September 26, 2009, at approximately 1431 hours, officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to the intersection of the Ramona Expressway and Sanderson Avenue, in reference to fatal traffic collision. A white male was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.

Witness statements and physical evidence at the scene indicated the following: A 2002 Ford Escort was involved in a hit and run collision on westbound Ramona Expressway, west of Lyon Avenue. The Escort continued from that minor collision, westbound on Ramona Expressway. The Escort rear-ended a second vehicle east of Sanderson Avenue, causing that vehicle to flip over. The driver failed to stop a second time and proceeded through the red light on Ramona Expressway at Sanderson Avenue. A northbound vehicle on Sanderson that had the right of way clipped the Ford Escort, causing it to skid into a stationary eastbound vehicle. The force of that collision halted the Ford Escort and caused the fatal injuries to the driver, who was the single occupant.

The victim of the first hit and run collision on Ramona Expressway and Lyon Avenue incurred minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital. The victim of the second hit and run was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Both of these drivers were able to provide statements at the scene. The driver involved in the third collision and his occupants were uninjured. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

This investigation is continuing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call Deputy Michael Chevalier at the San Jacinto Police Department San Jacinto Police Department, at (951) 654-2702.
