On Wednesday, October 28 at 1300 hours, Investigators from Indio Sheriff’s and Coachella Police Department arrested Daniel Avila, age 25, of Thermal for armed robbery and attempted homicide. Bail is set at $1,000,000.
Details:
On Friday August 29th, 2009, at approximately 11:15 PM, officers from the Coachella Police Department responded to the area of Heather Lane and Shady Lane to investigate an attempted robbery.
The investigation revealed that the two male victims were approached by an armed male suspect who demanded money. During the attempted robbery, the suspect struck one of the victims with a gun and shot him in the leg. The suspect fled the area in a dark-colored, late-model Chevy Tahoe, driven by an unidentified second suspect. The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and later released. The investigation in this matter is ongoing.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult in his early twenties with dark hair wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts. He was armed with a small caliber semi-automatic weapon.
