On Thursday, October 8, 2009 Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Martin Daydi Chapa, a 29-year-old parolee from the City of Indio for armed robbery. The arrest stemmed from an intense investigation into the robbery that occurred on August 13th at the Miramonte Hotel in the City of Indian Wells.

During the investigation, which occurred over two months, several items of evidence were collected that implicated Chapa in the robbery.

Investigators booked Chapa into the Indio jail on charges of armed robbery, possession of stolen property, burglary, possession of a controlled substance and a violation of parole. Chapa is currently being held on $25,000.00 bail and a parole hold.

Details:

Indian Wells Police Officers responded to the Miramonte Hotel located at 45-000 Indian Wells Lane in the City of Indian Wells reference an armed robbery. Employees of the hotel reported that an unknown male entered their office armed with a firearm and demanded money. The suspect was able to obtain an undisclosed amount of currency from the location and flee the area in a white SUV. No one was injured during the incident.

Palm Desert Sheriff’s Investigators were summoned to the scene and began to investigate the robbery. The white SUV was later located in the area of Elkhorn Trail and Arapahoe Vista in the City of Indian Wells. Investigators learned that the robbery suspect was picked up by an accomplice at this location.

The suspect is described as a 20-30-year-old Hispanic male adult, 5’07-5’09 with a medium build, brown hair and eyes.
