Sheriff 911 Communications Officer I/II
Position Information

Sheriff 911 Communications Officer is a unique, challenging and responsible position. Communication Officers receive 9-1-1 calls from the public requiring assistance. They must obtain essential information from callers, determine the locale and appropriate emergency units to be dispatched and transmit information and orders to emergency units via two-way radio. This position requires individuals to be alert, responsible, diligent, thorough and to speak clearly and concisely. 911CO's must exercise good judgment under demanding circumstances while maintaining a professional demeanor with citizens who may be abusive, excited, intoxicated, ill, disabled, or incoherent. This position requires sitting for long periods of time. Positions may be filled at either the I or II level. Applicants hired at the lower level may be promoted to the higher level upon meeting the minimum qualifications and satisfactory work performance record. New hires are responsible for paying their portion of the PERS safety retirement (9%) for the first five (5) years of employment.
