Deputy Sheriff Trainee --
[MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS] [SELECTION PROCESS]
- High school graduate, GED, or Certificate of proficiency issued by the California State Board of Education.
- Age 20 years and 9 months at the start of the academy.
- Valid California Driver's license.
- U.S. citizenship must be obtained by the time of appointment.
SELECTION PROCESS Candidates must appear in person for all of the exams. Candidates who live out-of-state must attend the written examination; however, the remaining selection process may be combined to minimize your visits through sheriffs' personnel.

- Writing Assessment Examination
- Extensive Background Investigation
- Polygraph Examination
- Medical Examination
- Psychological Examination
