Moreno Valley Police Department

he Riverside County Sheriff's Department and the City of Moreno Valley entered into a contract for police services in 1985. The Sheriff's Department provides complete law enforcement to its estimated 180,000 population as the Moreno Valley Police Department. The assigned officers wear the Sheriff's uniform with patches distinctive to the City, and the patrol units bear the city logo. The City provides facilities within the city limits from which the 224 personnel assigned to the contract work. The Moreno Valley Police Department is commanded by a Sheriffs Captain who acts as the Chief of Police and a department head for the city.

The Moreno Valley Police Department has a direct line for reporting non-emergency incidents in the Moreno Valley area such as fireworks, large parties and loud music. By calling this staffed twenty-four (24) hour non-emergency number, our dispatchers can more effectively assign police officers and keep the 911 system free for emergency calls.
