The Riverside County Sheriff's Department, in cooperation with the California State Sheriffs' Association & Civil Procedures Committee, puts on the Advanced Civil Procedures Course. This 24 hour advanced civil course enables participants to learn the skills necessary for the enforcement of complex levy process. Participants will achieve a greater understanding of the fundamental principles of writ enforcement and related statutes. The course includes levy scenarios that allow participants to get hands-on practice at screening common writ process and creditor's instructions for statutory compliance. It is highly recommended that students attend the Basic Civil Course prior to attending this course. Topical areas covered, include, but are not limited to:


Screening of common writ process & instructions.
Code of Civil Procedure - structure/pertinent statutes.
Attachment, Execution, Claim & Delivery.
Levies on real property, Exemptions, Third Party Claims.
Methods of levy, Bankruptcy.
Team approach to problem solving.


PRESENTATION DATES & HOURS: This is a 24-hour course that will be presented March 3 - 5, 2008. The course hours are 0800 hours to 1700 hours.

LOCATION: This course will be presented at Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, 3423 Davis Avenue, Riverside, CA 92518. (See www.clarktraining.org for map and other information)

CERTIFICATION & FEES: POST Plan IV. Total course fee: $147.00 Payment must be received prior to or on the first day of class in a single check should be payable to Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students are required to bring a current Code of Civil Procedure.

COURSE ENROLLMENT: This course is limited to 30 students & reservations will be made on a first come, first served basis. Please contact BCTC Coordinator Antoinette Vicek at (951) 486-2989 or student enrollment at (951) 486-2797. The students' agency training officer must make the reservation.

CANCELLATION POLICY: The Riverside Sheriff's Department sponsors this course at the Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center. Courses are offered based on scheduled attendance. Failure to attend or cancel at least 10 days prior to the course date will result in a charge of the full course fee or a $25.00 administrative fee (whichever is greater).

LODGING: Reservations for lodging must be arranged by the student or his/her agency.

DRESS CODE: Agency uniform or casual business attire with collared shirt. NO sandals, shorts or T-shirts.
