PRESS RELEASERE: Update; Murder of Tam Nguyen Luu on August 30, 1999
At about 5:30 pm on Tuesday, August 31, 1999, deputies from the Lake Elsinore station responded to a reported body found in a vehicle near the intersection of Riverside Dr. and Baker St., near Alberhill Creek, in Lake Elsinore. The area was about 30 to 40 feet off of the highway near a pond used frequently for fishing.
The vehicle, a 1993 Honda sedan, green in color, was found parked and abandoned at the sight. Deputies located the body of a woman inside the vehicle. The investigation revealed that the woman, later identified as Tam Nguyen Luu, 24 years old, of Ontario, California, had been murdered and left at the scene by an unknown assailant. The murder is believed to have occurred on Monday evening, August 30, 1999. The vehicle was determined to have belonged to Ms. Luu.
At this time Thuy Van Duong, a 28 year old Vietnamese male from Ontario, is being sought in connection with the murder of Ms. Luu. Details about the relationship between Duong and Ms. Luu are being withheld at this time. Duong's whereabouts are unknown. A warrant for his arrest has been obtained and wanted flyers have been distributed to surrounding agencies. This investigation is continuing.
