Riverside County Sheriff's Department
WANTED for MURDER
UNKNOWN SUSPECT

VICTIM - Rosie Almeyda

On Monday morning, October 20, 1997, Rosie Almeyda, a 35 year old mother of two, was traveling from her employment location at the Los Angeles Police Department, Van Nuys Station, to her home in Hemet, California. Almeyda left her work location at about 1:40 a.m. driving a Maroon four door 1997 Geo Prizm.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received a telephone call from a passerby that there had been a single vehicle collision on the eastbound lanes of Highway 60 just east of the Interstate 15 interchange. After responding to the scene, Highway Patrol Officers, Sheriff's Deputies and medical personnel discovered that the driver of the Geo Prizm, Rosie Almeyda, had been shot through the passenger window of her car by unknown persons and was deceased.

Investigators believe that other vehicles were in the area at the time of the shooting and the publics' assistance is requested in solving this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Central Homicide Unit at (951) 341-8817 or via email to this website.

The car pictured here is similar to one driven by the victim the night she was murdered.
