Sheriff Press Release

On August 15, 2013, Investigators from the Central Homicide were notified by the Coroner's Office of a DNA match on a subject from Nevada County. The subject was identified as Isaiah Marsh. Marsh was reported missing by his family members in April of 2009.

Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Central Homicide Unit are investigating the incident as a suspicious death. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is encouraging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Investigator Corey of the Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777.

Place Found / Died: Found in a remote desert area off of the Long Canyon dirt roadway northeast of Desert Hot Springs
Estimated Age: It is believed that he was between 20 and 35 years of age.
Hair / Eyes: Light brown straight hair and unknown eye color
Hair Length: Worn short, 1-3 inches.
Height / Weight: It is believed that this man was between 5’8” and 5’11” tall and unknown weight.
Location of Incident: It is unknown if his death occurred where he was found.
Features or Distinquishing Marks: Due to the condition of his body, no scars, tattoos or disfigurements were found. This man had his upper three front teeth removed and a 3-tooth artificial bridge placed.
Clothing: He had been wearing clothing, however he was set afire and no clothing description is available. No personal property or identification was located with him.
Estimated Time Since Death: It is estimated that he had been dead 5 to 10 days prior to being found.
Circumstances: This man was found as a partially skeletal remains with disarticulated bones scattered about the site and evidence of extreme charring from a fire. No clear cut cause of death is established.
