Riverside County Sheriff / Coroner's Bureau
Coroner's Responsibilities
The Coroner has the responsibility to investigate and report on all sudden deaths of persons within the County, particularly deaths resulting from all types of violence. California has established the types of deaths which must be reported to the Coroner for investigation and review.
It is the duty of the Coroner to inquire into and determine the circumstances, manner and cause of all violent, sudden or unusual deaths. The Coroner may hold an inquest if the circumstances warrant. The inquest may be held with or without a jury, at the Coroner's discretion and shall be open to the public.
