Special Investigations Bureau (SIB)
The Special Investigations Bureau (SIB) is responsible for enforcing local, state, and federal narcotic violations throughout the County of Riverside. SIB not only conducts complex and long-term narcotic investigations, they also:
- Investigate and dispose of illegal clandestine labs
- Divert precursor chemicals
- Pharmaceutical fraud
- Illegal marijuana eradication
- Identify and investigate major drug trafficking organizations that operate in the Inland Empire
SIB maintains a partnership with its citizens and other law enforcement agencies and community organizations throughout the county and state. SIB assists other bureaus, stations, and agencies in a variety of ways;
- Surveillance operations
- Electronic monitoring
- Technical support
- Undercover operations
- Covert investigative techniques
- K-9 drug detection.
Subsequently, SIB participates in several multi-agency narcotic task forces such as; Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement (BNE), San Bernardino County Sheriff, Los Angeles County Sheriff, and the Department of Justice (DOJ). As an additional public service, the Special Investigations Bureau employs the Drug Endangered Children Team whose primary objective is to intervene and rescue children from environments where illegal drug use and/or sales are occurring. This team also conducts presentations on drug awareness, drug identification, methamphetamine lab identification and pharmaceutical diversion. |
