SERT Bureau Operations

In the event of a large scale or countywide incident, the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (SERT) Bureau will function as the department’s emergency operations and management group under the command and control of the Sheriff and the Sheriff’s Executive staff for all hazards, multi-agency extended duration critical incident, and emergency management response and recovery operations.

How the Bureau Responds

When requested by any station or bureau, SERT Bureau will provide the emergency management framework, department and interagency coordination and logistical support needed to the field incident commanders and responding stations. SERT Bureau provides incident management, operational support, incident planning, logistics and finance functions using ICS/SEMS (Incident Command System/Standardized Emergency Management System) models.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is the primary law enforcement agency of the county responsible for patrol, investigations, court, corrections and coroner's operations within a 7300 square mile area and is responsible for municipal law enforcement within numerous contract cities.

Along with many special operations and task forces responsible for gang, drug, fugitive, internet crimes, SERT Bureau provides command, control and incident support operations to county, state and federal law enforcement, government agencies, and tribal governments within the county.
