On Saturday, October 31, 2009, about 1816 hours, officers from the Temecula Police Department responded to a report of a major injury traffic collision at Pechanga Parkway and Muirfield Drive in Temecula. Their investigation revealed the following:
A Toyota Scion was driving southbound on Pechanga Parkway in the number 3 lane at about 40 miles per hour when it entered the intersection at Muirfield Drive under a green light. A 72-year-old male was crossing Pechanga Parkway at Muirfield Drive in the crosswalk and was struck by the Toyota Scion.
The driver of the Toyota Scion was uninjured. However, the 72-year-old pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Inland Valley Hospital with critical injuries. He later died from his injuries at the hospital. Identification of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of his relatives.
