Details:
The La Quinta Police Department responded to the area of Bear Creek Trail in the La Quinta Cove to assist Cal Fire on a medical aid. A 64-year-old man from La Quinta was hiking on the Bear Creek Trail with his adult daughter when he collapsed. Cal Fire hiked into the trail over one mile to reach the hiker. Cal Fire pronounced the death at approximately 0944 hours.
Desert Sheriff's Search and Rescue and the Riverside Sheriff’s Department Aviation Unit assisted in the investigation and recovery. The name of decedent is being withheld pending notification of family members. The case is under investigation by the La Quinta Police Department and the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office.
